My Rating : 5 Starsππππ
Genre: Fiction
Plot:Crazy Rich Asians is the outrageously funny debut novel about three super-rich, pedigreed Chinese families and the gossip, backbiting, and scheming that occurs when the heir to one of the most massive fortunes in Asia brings home his ABC (American-born Chinese) girlfriend to the wedding of the season.
When Rachel Chu agrees to spend the summer in Singapore with her boyfriend, Nicholas Young, she envisions a humble family home, long drives to explore the island, and quality time with the man she might one day marry. What she doesn’t know is that Nick’s family home happens to look like a palace, that she’ll ride in more private planes than cars, and that with one of Asia’s most eligible bachelors on her arm, Rachel might as well have a target on her back. Initiated into a world of dynastic splendor beyond imagination, Rachel meets Astrid, the It Girl of Singapore society; Eddie, whose family practically lives in the pages of the Hong Kong socialite magazines; and Eleanor, Nick’s formidable mother, a woman who has very strong feelings about who her son should–and should not–marry. Uproarious, addictive, and filled with jaw-dropping opulence, Crazy Rich Asians is an insider’s look at the Asian JetSet; a perfect depiction of the clash between old money and new money; between Overseas Chinese and Mainland Chinese; and a fabulous novel about what it means to be young, in love, and gloriously, crazily rich.
My Thoughts
Well I have been seeing this on blogosphere and youtube for a quite a long time , apparently because its movie adaption released some time ago and I just had to read it. Well I finally read this one 2 days ago and completed it within a stretch of five hours (and I had tons of homework which I actually had to complete also. ) I have to say that it managed to keep me excited and I seriously had a good laugh about those crazy rich asians throughout all the pages . It was entertaining and melodramatic and at times a bit cliche too.
The story revoles around Nicholas Young , who is Asia’s most elgible Bachelor and his girfriend, Rachel Chu is completely oblivious to his filthy richness and his status. Things go completely disarray when they decide to spend their holidays at his home in Singapore. What follows is the drama between relatives and friend who turn match makers for Nicholas. There is also various sub-plots in the story with multiple POVs .There is various perspectives and tons of characters to keep us entertained. There are so many Crazy Social Climbers in this book that the title is justly apt.
Another thing that I particulary liked was the Culture of Chinese people ,I never knew there were Mainlainders Chinese and Overseas Chinese . (LOL) Not to mention , its a story of super rich asians and their jet-setting lifestyle . This book of outrageously rich people still keeps us enthralled with Human Emotions. I can’t wait to read the next installments of the book and watch the movie of it soon.
I need to read and watch it. Amazing review!

I wouldn’t have considered it cliche – but perhaps the jealousy and the love/romance and the family drama would seem so.
