Hello Bookworms 🙂 I am giddy and happy after reading Emma Lord , You have a Match . My heart is literally smiling. I start to see imaginary heart emojis whirling around my head and I keep giggling like mischievous teenagers or worst kind of annoying romance heroines. This book is AMAZING! Super Duper cute! I loved Emma Lord’s TWEET CUTE and found YOU HAVE A MATCH to be equally fabulous.

PLOT- When Abby signs up for a DNA service, it’s mainly to give her friend and secret love interest, Leo, a nudge. After all, she knows who she is already: Avid photographer. Injury-prone tree climber. Best friend to Leo and Connie…although ever since the B.E.I. (Big Embarrassing Incident) with Leo, things have been awkward on that front. But she didn’t know she’s a younger sister. When the DNA service reveals Abby has a secret sister, shimmery-haired Instagram star Savannah Tully, it’s hard to believe they’re from the same planet, never mind the same parents — especially considering Savannah, queen of green smoothies, is only a year and a half older than Abby herself. The logical course of action? Meet up at summer camp (obviously) and figure out why Abby’s parents gave Savvy up for adoption. But there are complications: Savvy is a rigid rule-follower and total narc. Leo is the camp’s co-chef, putting Abby’s growing feelings for him on blast. And her parents have a secret that threatens to unravel everything. But part of life is showing up, leaning in, and learning to fit all your awkward pieces together. Because sometimes, the hardest things can also be the best ones.
You Have a Match is a YA contemporary about family, friendship, loss and love all tied into one. It follows Abby, an aspiring photographer, as she goes to summer camp in an attempt to appease her parents while secretly getting to know the older sister she didn’t know she had! She makes some new friends along the way, learns a lot about herself and her family and gets some unexpected time with her best friend and possibly ex-but-maybe-current-crush Leo. I loved the summer camp setting! It was so fun to explore the different trails, secret meet-up spots and allegedly haunted trees with all of the characters. Some of the book felt a bit predictable but there were definitely a few twists that I didn’t see coming.
The romance aspect was pretty adorable. I’m a huge romance fan, and you really can’t get much better than a slow burn friends to lovers, but that isn’t what truly shined in this story. While a lot of the book was humorous and sweet, there were a lot of serious topics talked about from the loss of a loved one to adoption and buried family secrets. I really liked the dynamic between Abby and her newfound sister, Savannah. Abby and Savvy think that they’re complete opposites of one another but they end up finding they not only have more in common than they thought, but that they can learn a lot from one another.
This book was both entertaining and touching, with characters that are so easy to enjoy root for. Definitely recommend if you want a nostalgic piece of summer with some extra depth!
