Hello Bookworms and fellow drama watchers . If you have been following my blog for sometime then you would know I love watching K-Dramas and enjoy watching them . But i rarely talk about them here except few recommendation posts. But this Drama is an exception . But I just finished an Epic Drama on Netflix ,The King: Eternal Monarch starring Lee Min Ho and Kim Go Eun . This is Lee Min Ho’s comeback Drama after his Military Enlistment .
My Rating – 5/5 Stars
Plot- Lee Gon is the third Korean emperor of his generation. His citizens regard him as the perfect leader. But behind this flawless appearance, hides a deep wound. When he was eight years old, his father was murdered before his eyes following a coup. Today, instead of respecting his filial duty, he prefers to escape the palace to attend university conferences. During one of his escapades, he sees himself propelled into a parallel world where he meets Jung Tae Eul, an inspector with whom he teams up with to defeat the criminals but also close the door between their two worlds.
As I love watching Korean Dramas because of many reasons , one of the Reasons is Lee Min Ho . He is a Korean actor and he was the male lead of my first Korean Drama , The Heirs . Technically he is my favorite actor and my EPIC CRUSH . I was so excited about watching this Drama since last year and on April 17 , it finally rolled out on Netflix . The story has a certain charisma of bringing sci-fi and mixing it with the romance of lighter sort . Obviously we get to see on the screen is mashed up goodies . It takes some time to grasp the the concept of the Drama , the parallel universe , Time travel , and Doppelgangers. Yes , it is a slow burn drama which takes a beautiful turn and I ended up loving it . The first few episodes are a bit slow and the world difficult to understand . The reason the first few episodes are slow might be because it represents the story, how everything slowly unfolds.
I think the romance worked really well. Both Gon and Tae Eul are from different worlds, two worlds where time flows differently between them. I think the romance was built up perfectly The Characters were a plus points .Every character was so interesting and the actors did such an amazing job portraying them. I loved how many actors portrayed different characters from both worlds. Lee Min Ho’s portrayal as a king was done so well, and Kim Go Eun’s portrayal as a fierce police officer was perfect as well. As many could agree, Jo Yeong and Jo Eun Seop definitely stole just about every scene they were in. Woo Da Hwan is my new favorite now .
The OST of the Drama is full 13 songs Soundtrack with various K-Artists is a beautiful masterpiece in itself . The cinematography was flawless. Every episode was filled with beautiful scenes . After all the Drama was shot for 8 Long Months and at some beautiful locations . You’ll enjoy this Drama if you love Details and you would like to be swept in a different world . Watch this on Netflix today .

Ooh I LOVE LeeMinHo (I haven’t seen him in the Heirs but I was with him during the OG days with Boys Over Flowers haha) and I didn’t know this was his first drama after enlistment! I watched the first two episodes and they were a bit slow for me, but I’m definitely going to be finishing it when I get the time!

I’ve only heard of this before, but the idea sounds fascinating! And it’s also interesting and amusing how Lee Gon basically entered an AU, which would be all the more fun for fan fiction writers, I think!
