My Rating – 4.5 Stars Expected publication: February 4th 2020 by Balzer + Bray (Thanks to Edelweiss for the ARC)

Plot – YES
Jamie Goldberg is cool with volunteering for his local state senate candidate—as long as he’s behind the scenes. When it comes to speaking to strangers (or, let’s face it, speaking at all to almost anyone), Jamie’s a choke artist. There’s no way he’d ever knock on doors to ask people for their votes…until he meets Maya.
NO
Maya Rehman’s having the worst Ramadan ever. Her best friend is too busy to hang out, her summer trip is canceled, and now her parents are separating. Why her mother thinks the solution to her problems is political canvassing—with some awkward dude she hardly knows—is beyond her.
MAYBE SO
Going door to door isn’t exactly glamorous, but maybe it’s not the worst thing in the world. After all, the polls are getting closer—and so are Maya and Jamie. Mastering local activism is one thing. Navigating the cross-cultural romance of the century is another thing entirely.

Set against the backdrop of political canvassing a story of two teens with different ethnicity coming around for a common cause to fight for a cause. Obviously the book falls in the YA- Contemporary but its not all cute and gooey . There is more to that beneath the sight and that makes reading this book a pleasure .
This book tries to bring a tinge of reality with a such a setting of political canvassing in the state and fighting for a cause . Politics is not easy ever and one other of the reasons is various cultures mingling . The book manages to grasp the attention of the readers and I was super floored .
Dual perspective books are always a lot of fun to read and this was no exception. I loved watching their friendship bloom into romance. Maya and Jamie knew each other a long ago and then a sudden meeting is all it what takes to reconnect. It is so pure when a friendship blossoms into love . Jamie has been awkward since a incident middle school and Maya helps him overcome this hesitations . Also we get to know the Jewish culture and Bar mitzah , thanks to Jamie . Maya adds a perspective as brown girl , being a Muslim in USA.
Swoon! Glad that it was my first read of 2020 . Can’t wait to kick start my year with more such books .

Great review, Priyasha! I’m so glad that you enjoyed this one and that it had a nice blend of cuteness and realism. I’m also a huge fan of friends to lovers so I’m sure this romance would hit the spot! I’m glad that it’s dual perspective too, because I feel like that would be a great way to propel the plot and romance forward! ❤

Another heartwarming read! Dual perspectives are fun especially when it comes to the characters’ takes on the same situation (or maybe, you know, their thoughts about each other) 😉 Yes, politics can be confusing and a rambling mess. It’s a great thing that this book is able to capture the attention of the reader. Nice review!
