The journey from school to college brings with it new experiences , opportunities , and along with it new people . But I am back to reading my favorite genre and writing reviews .

My Rating – 5 Stars (531 pages ) Published May 6th 2014 by Scribner

Plot – Marie-Laure lives in Paris near the Museum of Natural History, where her father works. When she is twelve, the Nazis occupy Paris and father and daughter flee to the walled citadel of Saint-Malo, where Marie-Laure’s reclusive great uncle lives in a tall house by the sea. With them they carry what might be the museum’s most valuable and dangerous jewel.
In a mining town in Germany, Werner Pfennig, an orphan, grows up with his younger sister, enchanted by a crude radio they find that brings them news and stories from places they have never seen or imagined. Werner becomes an expert at building and fixing these crucial new instruments and is enlisted to use his talent to track down the resistance. Deftly interweaving the lives of Marie-Laure and Werner, Doerr illuminates the ways, against all odds, people try to be good to one another.]

“Open your eyes and see what you can with them before they close forever.”

The book is unique in many way . Right from the story line , to the plot and the protagonist whose voices have been unheard . Marie-Laure, a blind French girl leaves Paris with her father, abandoning the Museum of Natural History, where he worked as the master locksmith, carrying a one-of-a-kind gem or maybe it’s decoy. Werner, a German boy working by special assignment tracks war resisters across Europe using radios and a brutal team of dispatchers.

The book is a authentic story and it showcases the research the author has put in the book , All the Light We cannot See showcases the story of the lives of the ordinary people living in the times of the war and adversity . The book has a sad underlining tone throughout the story which makes the story and I hate say that I was glad to be over this depressing book . I don’t mean to condemn the writings of the book , but the book was based in the worst periods of the human kind . We don’t expect anything different but still it was a tearjerker read.

This book has the most hauntingly beautiful prose I’ve ever read. It’s brimming with rich details that fill all five senses simultaneously. It’s full of beautiful metaphors that paint gorgeous images. I didn’t want this book to end, but I couldn’t put it down. This book brings a variety of emotions in the hearts of the readers and I was absolutely floored by the book .

“But it is not bravery; I have no choice. I wake up and live my life. Don’t you do the same?”
