Plot-Anna Fox lives alone—a recluse in her New York City home, unable to venture outside. She spends her day drinking wine (maybe too much), watching old movies, recalling happier times . . . and spying on her neighbors. Then the Russells move into the house across the way: a father, a mother, their teenage son. The perfect family. But when Anna, gazing out her window one night, sees something she shouldn’t, her world begins to crumble—and its shocking secrets are laid bare. What is real? What is imagined? Who is in danger? Who is in control? In this diabolically gripping thriller, no one—and nothing—is what it seems.

This is one of those books you read in one sitting !! It is dark and mysterious with a huge amount of suspense which makes you to turn pages faster until you reach the end. Lately , I have been on a overdose of thriller and murder mysteries . I get a adrenaline rush whenever I read them . So, Woman in the Window is one of them , which takes you in a whirlwind ride. The story shows a striking a resemblances to The Girl on Train (one of my favorites ) but yet it is altogether different . /How do author’s come up with these stories /

Our protagonist , Anna Fox is a Agoraphobic (“Agoraphobia is an intense fear and anxiety of being in places where it is hard to escape, or where help might not be available. Agoraphobia usually involves fear of crowds, bridges, or of being outside alone.” ) , alcoholic and a total unreliable narrator . She also has a bit of a photography habit, which stems mostly from her interest in watching what is going on outside her home, particularly in the homes of her neighbors. She is delusional and yet when she hears a screams that nobody does and that’s when the story takes a gripping turn . The writing is very different and we have the book in a chronologically dated format.

Even though I read a ton of thrillers and usually find a similar plot lines, this one was different . It has to be the writing which makes it so thrilling , the unreliable protagonist who has half the conversation in her head yet she has clarity towards things happening around her, even though nobody believes her. The Woman in the Window is intoxicating, dark, and simply unputdownable.

There is a upcoming movie coming later this year , based on the book “The Woman in the Window” starring Amy Adams.
