“The sky is everywhere, it begins at your feet.”

This heart warming ,heart rendering ,heart breaking and heart lifting novel is about First Love and First Loss. And this novel left me totally spellbounded , particularly by the beautiful writing of the author . The plot is heart breaking , no doubt ,it at times makes my eyes well up . This is Lennie Walker’s story of grief. She is a Clarinet player ,Wuthering Heights obsessed whose elder sister, Bailey had died 4 weeks ago . Well this is the plot in very short.

“If you’re someone who knows the worst thing can happen at any time, aren’t you also someone who knows the best thing can happen at any time too?”

18898577.gifThere is so much grief and sadness in the book but Jandy Nelson tells it with a love story or two. I was totally engrossed in the book . There are so many beautiful lines in the story that I’ll read it again someday . I particularly liked the poems interspersed within the text in the beginning of every chapter . Lennie has a habit of writing those poems on random places and spreading them all over the town of Clover. She feels so many emotions and presents them in Poems. Music is very powerful tool in the book as our protagonist is a Clarinet player. The characters are so beautifully crafted and designed.giphy

“Grief is forever. It doesn’t go away; it becomes part of you, step for step, breath for breath.”

There are two boys ,laconic Toby and charismatic Joe and they make Lennie’ s Love Triangle. The other lovely characters are Gram , Lennie’ s maternal grandmother and Uncle Big. There are a lot of kooky elements .The book is definitely heart breaking and heart rendering but it’s a beautiful story worth reading. Lennie Walker finally has a future and she accepts Grief in her own way.
