Synopsis: Reds are commoners, living under the rule of the Silvers, elite warriors with god-like powers. To Mare Barrow, a 17-year-old Red girl from The Stilts, it looks like nothing will ever change. Mare finds herself working in the Silver Palace, at the centre of those she hates the most. She quickly discovers that, despite her red blood, she possesses a deadly power of her own. One that threatens to destroy Silver control. But power is a dangerous game.

My thoughts :To begin with ,I was very apprehensive about this book .It has been on my tbr for a long period of time but somehow I couldn’t read it earlier .Come July and I finally read this book and loved every page of it or should I say every single word of the book.

I have heard that this book has strong resemblance to Hunger Games and Selection but since I haven’t read either I cannot say much. Yeah! But I can just say that this book has very fresh content and has envoked many feelings of Hope, freedom for our protagonist. Mare Barrow ,the protagonist of Red Queen is seventeen years old and lives in abject poverty and she is a red .(Remember the world is divided into Red and Silver where Silver are the elites). But Mare is no ordinary girl .I love the way how writer has made the story so fascinating with twists and turns . My heart just went out for Mare throughout the book. The book is fast paced and so many things start happening one after another .There is never a dull moment in the book and that’s the BEST part .Cal and Maven ,the Princes play a pivotal role in the story.Cal can be best described as ‘Silver by blood but not by Heart’.Mare and Cal’s romance is limited but I don’t mind because there are more books in the series .

But the Best part was in the End , OMG I seriously couldn’t fathom the twist . There was a HUGE twist in the end which completely changed the story. I won’t spoil it for you These kind of stories are such that once you know the twist ,you won’t enjoy it as the same in the next read. One word that describes the book best is UNPUTDOWNABLE literally. Don’t miss this book because it’s really good and who doesn’t love a good book.

  2. I read the book more or less when it was hyped. I think that made my experience with the book bad, I didn’t feel like I was reading a new book, that it was basic YA and I didn’t really enjoy myself much reading it. Perhaps I’ll give it a re read since it’s been a while and make my final decision then!

  3. This is my absolute favorite book!
You’re completely right. I wish I my mind could be blown by the twist every time I read it (I’m reading it the fourth time right now). But, when you read a second time, you start to notice all the clues leading up to the twist that you missed the first time.

    1. Thank you so much πŸ’œ A positive word about my reviews are welcomed. The twist us definitely Huge .. I have read it only twice.Have you read the next book in the series??It’s amazing.
      Priyasha 😍

  4. I love this series! I have just read the first two books but King’s Cage is on my TBR shelf. I tend to procrastinate when I think a book is going to be the final of the series. I hate to see such beloved stories end. I did think it resembled a lot of other YA series but I can’t get enough of a good fantasy plot. A random opinion of mine but Mare Barrow’s name reminds me of bone marrow!?

    1. I totally agree with you … The series is definitely amazing no doubt about this fact. King’s Cage is on my tbr tooo but since my exams will be starting soon I can’t possibly read it now. I will soon be uploading the review of Glass Sword …do check that out .. Though it resembled many ya books, still I loved the book πŸ’œ
      Until then….
